The following is an essay that my 14 year old wrote for his online writing class tonight. The assignment was to write a persuasive essay for a privilege that the student thought they should have. I thought it was hilarious.
A Tank
A Tank is something I would like to have. I have four reasons why a tank would be a very useful privilege. My first reason is of course, Safe transportation. The tank could protect me or any other number of students on various outings such as, field trips, library outings, and the occasional McDonalds™ lunch. My second reason is (as most people know) that tanks have special kinds of tires that are known as caterpillar tracks. This would make the tank ideal for evacuations across desert, or water. My third reason for a tank privilege is yard tidiness. A tank can easily demolish any unnecessary bushes, trees, or weeds that might cause nuisance. Fourthly and finally a tank would be useful for home defense. For example say the Pentagon was suddenly overrun with swarms of deranged dogs seeking the destruction of the new tax on garbage disposal. Any free citizen could take his or her tank straight to Washington and dispose of the problem. A tank makes good sense and it is the dream of every boy in the world.

hehehe, that kids needs a tank!! I'd go get him a little model tank, just to satisfy him for a little while. If he takes care of it for a year and doesn't let the littles ruin it, then negotiate further for a big tank..
