Overflow

Your hands made me and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn Your commandments. Psalm 119:73

I was reading this today and a few things impressed me about these words.

1. God made me. He created me. He knows me intimately.

2. The Psalmist asks for understanding. There is no assumption that we already have understanding. There is an assumption that it is precisely what we are lacking.

I need understanding. Please Lord give it to me.

3. That the purpose of understanding and wisdom is so that we may learn God's commandments. It is more than obeying... it is learning. About being saturated in God's Word. God's Word must first be on our hearts. His Word will then minister to us. Then from that overflow we will be able to minister to our children and the others we come in contact with.
