A lesson from Genesis

Genesis 39:21-23
But the Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the chief jailer. And the chief jailer committed to Joseph's charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it. The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph's charge because the Lord was with him; and whatever he did, the Lord made to prosper.

As I was reading this, this morning I was struck by the fact that:

1. The Lord was WITH Joseph
2. He extended KINDNESS to him
3. Gave him FAVOR in the sight of his "boss"
4. As a result, Joseph was given work to do
5. He did that work in such a way that he was a blessing to his "boss" and everything he did prospered.

As a Christian, I know that God is WITH me. By the fact that I am filled with His Holy Spirit, have His word and the ability to obey it and know it.. I know that He has extended His KINDNESS to me. The people and circumstances that my life consists of .. God is able to give me FAVOR in their sight. I have been given WORK to do. I am able to do that WORK with God's blessing and PROSPER my husband and my children and those around me.

I am not implying that I live in a jail... but I would like to have Joseph's character and contentedness in all circumstances.

Today how can you prosper those who God gives you?

I love reading about Joseph. I don't think I will every grow tired of hearing someone speak about Joseph. There is always something new to learn from his situation.

Thinking about how I do the work God has placed before me and that it can bless and prosper those whom I work for is certainly contrary to the rest of the world. Good thoughts, Char.
