Love to Eat, Hate to Eat

Today we (Brandi G. and I) are looking at Study Question 1 from chapter 1 of Love to Eat, Hate to Eat.

In what ways are your eating patterns similar to either Marsha's (bulimia), Angela's (anorexia) or the author's (gluttony)? How long have you been struggling with such problems?

My eating patterns are similar to the author's. I use food to get pleasure and as a substitute for relying on God to sustain me. I feel guilty and ashamed of myself but seemingly unable to give up this idol.

This is such a struggle when I want to do what is right and my heart's desire is to only worship the Lord and to place my whole focus on Him.

If you have this book and would like to join in... please do.

My eating patterns are closest to the author's. Unfortunately I LOVE food and for as long as I can remember, I have gone to food to comfort me in times of stress, depression and anger. Also I like to use celebrations as a reason to indulge. Finally, boredom is another instance when I think about food. So, as you can see, if I am not walking in the Spirit, I can easily eat all day!

I am asking the Lord for freedom and I believe it begins in my thought life. If all of the thoughts that I have during a typical day revolving around food or eating were turned into thoughts toward the Lord, revival would surely erupt in my life. Bring it on, Lord!

"'My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord.'" Jeremiah 31:14b

I do have this book, so I might jump on board a little late. Are you doing one chapter a week, and rewiewing on Fridays?

Please do join us, Debs! We are doing one QUESTION per week...about a chapter a month. Slow, but consistent :-)
